Five Tips for Interning

Write notes on everything

It's so handy to have a little notebook to jot notes down here and there. I normally write out to do lists everyday so I can make sure I meet my deadlines, the tasks I've been doing so I can offload it onto my CV and of course general notes you need for phone calls and emails.

Get involved

A majority of the time your colleagues will be going for drinks or even just to the shops to buy a packet of crisps, make sure you get involved and go out with them! I know it's easy to shy away in the corner and keep yourself to yourself, but if you're interning there for a while then you want to be able to get on with everyone and feel comfortable! It also means you can get to know them better and maybe you'll find common interests!

Keep busy

I guarantee you will make the worst impression if you sit there and do nothing. Remember why you're interning, to learn, to work, to see how the industry works? Not to sit there on your arse doing nothing! If there's nothing for you to do then a good tip is to check out what's on their hard-drive. This way you can get to learn about the company more which is never a bad thing, but be careful in case you accidentally delete something - from personal experience I wouldn't recommend it!

Finance

It's really important that you find out about the financial side of the internship. Are you being paid? Does the company pay for your travel? How much does it cost for your travel? It's definitely worth having a sit down and thinking about all these questions. I've had to pass on an internship I desperately wanted to do just because financially it wasn't possible, it really can be a bummer.

Get a good chair

I seriously wish someone had told me this before I first started interning because despite seeming silly, it's really important especially in an office job. Make sure your chair is comfy and not too big because I can promise you after a few days your back will be killing you. Even if you can't change your chair then just bring a cushion in or anything to make it more bearable, after all you will be sitting in it all day everyday for the next however many weeks!

5 Beauty Bits Always in my Bag

I've been changing my everyday bag around quite a bit recently and as a result, I've been constantly swapping bits and bobs from bag to bag. Below are a few favourites which have stuck with me wherever I go.

I've gone on about this way too much in the past and you're probably bored of me raving about it but this stuff really is the shit when it comes to lipcare. Anytime my lips are feeling a bit dry, I just squeeze a bit of this on and it works perfectly.

Ever since seeing Sammi from Beauty Crush rave about the Maybelline Fit Me Collection, I've been hooked on their powder. It's perfect for mattifying the face and unlike the Rimmel Stay Matte powder, the packaging doesn't break every time you put your bag down!

This is the perfect sized brush for a quick powder application without making me look too powdery. Cheap as chips as well and we all love a Real Techniques brush don't we?

To be honest with you, I seldom top up my makeup during the day but one thing I am forever doing is reapplying liner to my waterline. For this I use the Clinique quickliner which doesn't budge all day and also comes with a sponge on the end if I'm going for a more smokey look.

Lipstick of the day.
As you know I rarely wear lipstick but when I do, it's an essential in my bag. There's nothing worse than faded lipstick so it's a must to keep my lippy of the day close by me.

The Best High Street Heels

It's party season which means it's time for LBD's, sparkly accessories and killer heels. I've never really been one for splurging on heels as I rarely wear them so I normally head to New Look for party purchases. They honestly sell the most affordable yet good quality shoes and I can't recommend them enough. Wedges, stilettos, boots, chunky heels, everything. I can't say they're the comfiest shoes as a couple of pairs I have including the ones pictured and these ones won't last longer than an hour on my feet but hey ho, beauty is pain right?

My Winter Foundation

FEATURED: RIMMEL LASTING FINISH FOUNDATION (WITH COMFORT SERUM)

Please allow me to introduce you to the perfect foundation for winter! Honestly this is all I will ever need in a foundation and I can't sing its praises enough. They claim it lasts up to 25 hours which I wouldn't say is the most accurate statement they've made but it is extremely long lasting (around 8 hours) and I can wear this to work knowing that it will still be there by the end of the day. It gives a medium to full coverage but can also look quite cakey when too many layers are applied so I make sure to only apply the smallest amount at a time. It looks dewy on the skin which I surprisingly like, despite being a lover of matte foundations and is also the perfect match for my skintone which as you all know is hard to find in the drugstore. Rimmel have really hit the nail on the head with this foundation for me personally so I'm really impressed. I've also heard good things about the Lasting Perfection Nude foundation which I might give a whirl as well!

What I'm Wearing This Winter

A-Line Skirts.
I've never been a massive skirt wearer but something has completely come over me these past couple of months. Effortless fashion summed up in a garment. By just throwing on this skirt with some thick tights, an oversized jumper and boots, I look like I've actually put thought into my outfit - it's brilliant.

Patterns.

As well as being obsessed with monochrome this autumn/winter, I've also been loving a million and one different patterns. Tartan scarves, stripey jumpers, checkered dresses, diamond tights, I'm just loving it all.

Boots, boots, boots.

Apart from crocs (please forgive me), all I've had on my feet for the past couple of months are boots. So much so that I'm now having to get both pairs resoled. It's nice to change it up as well between biker boots for a more grungey look and heeled boots if I'm wearing something smarter. I've recently invested in these beauts as well, thank the Lord for Black Friday discounts!

Late Blogmas

It's December already. Say whaaaat? I've missed the first few days of blogmas as I've been totally run down at work and haven't had the time to write any posts but as of tomorrow I will be posting everyday until Christmas! Happy December everyone!

Dear Santa...

Xmas List

It feels like only yesterday that I was typing my last Christmas wishlist, time really does fly doesn't it? I'm not going mad with presents this year as I was very lucky last year and to be honest I don't really need much this year! I have plenty of bags, jewellery and the watch Toby bought me last year which I don't want to replace so there's nothing big I really want. However I have been eyeing these trainers up for a while now and you all know how much I love my trainers. I'm asking for a few books as well including this one which I've heard loads about, should keep me busy if I'm lucky enough to get snowed in this year! What's on the top of your wishlist this year?

Can't Stop Shopping

I swear I have a genuine problem with shopping, no matter how much I have in my bank account be that £10 or £1000, I will find a way to spend it. ASOS is the worst for me due to the fact I can't resist their continuous sales and unlimited next day delivery. So below are a few new additions to my wardrobe and make up drawer.

Katy Stephenson Outfit The Rawrdrobe Blog

I've been after a leather skirt for absolutely ages so when ASOS released their flash 20% discount code I had to finally buy this little gem. It feels a tad too short but I'm not planning on wearing it without tights so all should be good.

Katy Stephenson Outfit The Rawrdrobe Blog

As Christmas is growing closer it means I need to start prepping for the parties coming up. This dress should be perfect for them with some tights, red lips and black JC's. It's from Missguided and so cheap, around £22 so I definitely recommend you check out their party dresses!

Katy Stephenson Outfit The Rawrdrobe Blog

I also took a liking to these treggings on the Missguided site. To be honest I was slightly put off by the 'scuba' part but they're really not scuba material at all. More like a cheap disco pant kind of material but it doesn't bother me for £12.00. I'm obsessed with monochrome at the moment as you can probably tell from my recent hauls and this geometric pattern will add a little extra to an outfit.

As much as I love my clothes from Missguided, I do have to mention how big the sizes come up on me. The leggings are practically trousers and feel very baggy especially around the waist and crotch and the sleeves on the dress are massive. It may be worth ordering a couple of sizes and returning one just to make sure you get the right fit!

Avoiding Dry Lips This Winter

Katy Stephenson Outfit The Rawrdrobe Blog

What's the point of wearing dark vampy shades around this time of year when beneath the colour your lips are dry and chapped? You need a good base to really let your lips do the talking so here's a helping hand with how to avoid dry lips this winter.

Vitamin B.
According to my Beauty Bible, vitamin B is an essential in our winter diet to prevent dry skin as it helps to maintain moisture. Avocado, bananas and potatoes are great for this as well as tasting amazing. Also remember to drink plenty of water, dehydration can really effect your lips so make sure you get those eight glasses down your neck a day!

Don't lick.
Just because you lick your lips it doesn't mean you're moisturising them, in fact it makes them a lot worse by removing natural oils from your lips. I know it can be tempting but try and use a lip balm regularly which isn't flavoured. You'll soon be turned off by the dull taste of petroleum jelly!

Scrubadub.
I love using lip exfoliators when I have dry lips, they're miracle workers I tell you! Restrain from using them too often as you need to allow the cells to repair and remember to use a moisturiser after. Tip: If you don't have a lip exfoliator then you can always whack on a load of lip balm and lightly use a soft toothbrush to brush off the dead cells or you can even create your own with some sugar and honey!

Moisturise religiously.
Never let that lip balm leave your sight during the colder months as you'll really need it. It's best to apply your lip balm after you drink, eat or touch your lips. I love to apply a thick coating as well when I'm doing my makeup and before I go to sleep. Trust me, it's your new best friend.

Top lip balms.

FEATURED: PRIMARK JUMPER DRESS, TOPSHOP SHIRT, DEENA AND OZZY BOOTS

Colder months mean more autumnal colours and that's exactly where this jumper dress fits in. For a tenner at primark it's not bad at all. Perfect for layering with shirts underneath (as you can just about see here) but also a great piece to show off some patterned tights or over the knee socks (not shown as I forgot to buy some woops). As always I'm wearing my trusty boots!

MAC Blush in 'Harmony'

FEATURED: MAC BLUSH IN 'HARMONY'

I bought this hoping it would be the perfect contour shade for me but unfortunately it's a tad too dark. It will probably end up being my 'going out' contour colour so I won't be wearing it a huge amount but I'm still happy with it. Just be careful to use a light hand with application if you're pale like me. Despite the fact I will use it up, I won't be repurchasing this particular shade purely because it doesn't match my skin tone as well as I had hoped.

Monochrome

FEATURED: PRIMARK OVERSIZED COAT, ZARA SKIRT, PRIMARK JUMPER, DEENA AND OZZY BOOTS

Well I'm looking very serious in this post aren't I? Look at the coat though, it's got to be my best bargain this year at only twenty-five quid and ahh I just love it. It goes so well with my new skirt to give an effortlessly dressed up look and paired with my boots, just simply perfect! I'm on the hunt for more A-line skirts, I just think they're so versatile and can see you through the whole year!

Prep for Christmas

Okay so maybe this post is a tad early but I'm so excited to share it with you. An essential part of Christmas is of course a jumper and I happen to be a bit obsessed with them. I've got three now and I've still got my eye on more! I was recently gifted this amazing jumper from the lovely people at funkychristmasjumpers.com and I'm so chuffed with it. The quality is impressive and it's so snug and warm, basically the perfect festive jumper. I seriously can't wait to start wearing this (out in public) and I urge you to check out their site for cheap and cheerful jumpers!

MAC Blush in 'Buff'

FEATURED: MAC POWDER BLUSH IN 'BUFF'

This has got to be one of my favourite MAC products ever. I first tried my mum's a few years ago and ever since then it's been the only high end blush which I use. It's a very natural colour and really suits my skintone, adding a subtle tint to my cheeks but I remember reading somewhere that it's the perfect colour for any skintone. It's very similar to Prism so if you already have that then I wouldn't recommend getting this one as well but to be honest I prefer it, it's more peachy in colour so it adds natural glow to your face.

Back to Beanies

FEATURED: ZARA STRIPEY TEE, MANGO LEATHER JACKET, RIVER ISLAND JEANS, BRIXTON BEANIE, TOPSHOP SLIP ONS, MULBERRY BAG

There's nothing better than an easy outfit and that's exactly what this is. All I've really been wearing in this transitional month is my new leather jacket, a pair of black jeans and a basic t-shirt with either a beanie, scarf or statement necklace and some comfy shoes. And you can only imagine how happy I am to be back in beanies!

New In: Monochrome

FEATURED: ZARA STRIPEY TOPS, ZARA SKIRT, MANGO LEATHER JACKET, MANGO JUMPER, PRIMARK OVERSIZED COAT

I've never really been a massive monochrome outfit wearer but now all has changed. My favourite outfits at the moment consist of black jeans, a monochrome jumper, my leather boots and my parka jacket. So it was only right that I picked up a few more staple pieces to add to my collection including a bargain oversized coat from Primark for no more than £25! This Zara skirt is such a key piece in my wardrobe now, perfect for an effortless look. I won't mention the amazing leather jacket in this post but there will definitely be a dedicated post coming soon. And be sure to see these clothes in some upcoming outfit posts!

My Autumn/Winter Face

Makeup trends are eternally changing but generally every autumn/winter we know what's coming. I'm not a big follower of trends be it fashion or beauty, but I think it's a good idea to slightly change your warpaint with the seasons! Below are just a few ideas to update your makeup as winter draws in!

Subtle contouring.
I think we can all agree that when we hit the colder months it's time to step away from the bronzer as much as we hate to admit it. It's time for more stone colour based contouring shades which can softly define your face without adding too much of a summer glow. I've just bought MAC's blush in 'Harmony' which is absolutely perfect.

Big lashes.
In winter I'm all about lashings of my favourite volumizing mascara to make up for my pale complexion. You can opt for feathery lashes with the help of some falsies or like me you can go with for the clumpy-er look which adds an edge.

Dark lips.
Oranges and pinks step aside, it's all about berry shades and deep reds now. There are hundreds of posts on the go to shades but my favourite is Lina Mar's (here) which is set out so beautifully. You can also read my review here on the Kate Moss lipstick which as you will all know is one of the most popular shades for this time of year.

A Slight Addiction to Phone Cases

In my opinion you can never have enough phone cases and despite already having too many, I've just welcomed another into my collection. I have a thing for skull cases so this one caught my eye straight away when Iconemesis contacted me and asked me to pick a case for them to send me. It's designed by Sacha Kreeger and I love the print, she does some prettier cases as well but they're for more advanced phones and unfortunately I'm still stuck on an iPhone 4S! If you're after a new case I suggest having a browse on their site, if you're not a fan of the one I chose then they've got plenty more on their site!

The Best Autumn Lippy

I bet you didn't even need to look at the picture to tell what lipstick I'm on about. Yeah you guessed it, Kate Moss' lipstick in 107. This colour screams autumn and you need to go and buy it. The pigmentation is impressive and because it's matte its longevity is incredible for a drugstore lipstick. It applies smoothly but be sure to moisturize your lips to prevent it sticking to dry skin. It hardly breaks the bank so why not go and try it?

Zoella Soak Opera Bath and Shower Cream

It was essential that I bought something from Zoella's beauty range and with limited funds in my bank I opted for 'Soak Opera'. For only a fiver you get to indulge in 490ml of product which for me is great value for money. It smells girly and in the least creepy way possible, how I can image Zoe smells. It's not the normal shower gel scent I go for as I'm normally a big fan of the strong smelling Molton Brown shower gels but it's alright I guess. The formula is enriched with shea butter, aloe and vitamin e which softens my skin without making it feel oily or greasy but it's nothing to write home about. I wouldn't buy anymore from the range for the pure reason that from my point of view, there's better stuff out there.

The Power of Technology

I've got a question for you. Can you imagine what the fashion industry would be like without the use of technology? No online magazines, no visual search software and most importantly, no blogging! With the recent success of Tanya Burr Cosmetics, Zoella Beauty and now Ruth Crilly's COLAB collection, it's made me think about where we'd all be without the technology we have today.

Despite magazines originally being printed, a majority of magazines can now be bought and read online. Personally I hate this. To me, the whole experience of reading a magazine is finding your favourite at the shops, coming home to settle down with *insert your drink of choice* and flicking through to the best articles, then cutting pictures out to stick in your scrapbook or moodboard for inspiration. Or is that just me? I was gutted when Company announced they were stopping their 'real' magazines but unfortunately I can understand why it's happening.

On a lighter note, the power of visual search software is something worth mentioning. In the past I've often found myself searching through every corner of the internet to find something that I've seen someone wearing, be it a fashion blogger, celebrity or just a friend. Luckily it's not an issue anymore with software like findSimilar which makes your style icons clothes instantly shopable. What more could you ask for? I tend to use Style Thief which finds alternatives to vintage or designer items for half the price using image recognition software. And despite being one of the newest technologies, visual searching has already changed the way we shop thanks to Cortexica who is now working alongside retail giants Macy's and Zalando to add visual search to their apps. Soon enough we should be able to shop just by snapping a picture!

Bloggers are at the forefront of the fashion industry and that would never have happened without the use of technology and the internet. Nowadays bloggers are some of the most influential people not only in the industry but in the world. Think along the lines of Zoella, Tanya Burr, Susie Bubble, Fashion Toast. The list is endless. Now just for a second, imagine blogging didn't exist. What would we even do with our time? No snuggling up in bed with a box of chocolates reading LLYMRS' lifestyle posts.. I'd hate it!

It's worth giving it a thought, the impact of technology is huge so what can we expect next?

Brighton

I wanna get into the swing of writing more lifestyle posts. They're one of my favourite types of post to read but I just always find that I never do anything interesting or venture outside of my hometown. How boring do I sound?

So last weekend when my friend invited me down to her uni in Brighton for a weekend I took the opportunity to take some snaps. I love Brighton and it's as simple as that. Everytime I go, I fall in love with the quirky lanes, sea breeze and crazy fashion. It's so inspiring down there and makes me torn between wanting to move to London or Brighton. Hmm decisions. Unfortunately I didn't bump into any famous youtubers but I did pop into Oliver Bonas (Zoe and Gabby's favourite homeware shop) where I wallowed in beautiful furniture. I swear homeware shops are the reason I want to move out so badly!

So would you like to see more lifestyle posts? I'm currently interning in London which means that my posts may be scarce but I really am trying! This does however mean that I could do a few advice posts for interns? Just let me know in the comments if you're interested!

My Autumn Go To Shoes

Converse.
In summer I tend to wear my white converse all the time whereas as we enter the colder months I try to incorporate my black ones into my outfits. As I'm sure you all know how comfortable, versatile and reasonably priced they are so if you haven't already got some then what are you doing?!

Leather Boots. We all saw this one coming didn't we. I think regular readers of my blog will know that I treasure my Deena and Ozzy boots which I bought last year. These are such an essential in my autumn/winter wardrobe and to be worn with every outfit be it smart or casual.

Comfy Boots. As much as I love wearing my leather biker boots, it's also great to throw on a pair of comfy/slouchy boots like these ones. To be honest they are kind of slippers as well but they're perfect to wear with a simple dress layered up with some thick black tights.

Skincare Saviours

Tea Tree Oil.
So affordable and so effective, I cannot praise tea tree oil enough. Just a couple of dabs with a cotton bud and in a few hours my spots reduce in size and redness and feel a lot less sore. You can splash out on the Origins Spot Remover or save a few pennies with the Body Shop Tea Tree Oil.

Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish (review here). One of the most talked about products in the beauty blogging industry, and deservedly so! Yeah so it may be a tad more expensive than your average drugstore cleanser but even so, it doesn't break the bank and it's worth the dollar. Leaving my skin feeling soft yet hydrated and removing pretty much all of my makeup (apart from Benefit's They're Real Mascara which doesn't budge).

Superdry Coconut LipFix (review here).
Okay so not necessarily an actual skincare saviour but I'll throw it in anyway! This is my go to lip product as you will know if you've been keeping up to date with my beauty posts for a while. It feels like a gel on your lips and granted, it is a bit sticky but for when my lips are dry and chapped, this product works genuine magic!

Water.
Does this count as a skincare saviour? I can see a dramatic difference in my skin when I've been drinking a lot of water. Less spots, more hydrated and reduced redness. What more can you ask for?

Autumn and Winter Fashion Staples

As you'll know from my previous posts, I am ridiculously excited to be back in thick jumpers, tights, boots, the lot. And since it's the beginning of October, I'm sharing with you my autumn and winter fashion essentials. Take from this what you like and let me know in the comments what your staples are!

White Shirt.
Clean, crisp and perfect for layering. I will be honest and admit that I pinch my mum's shirts but to be fair, you can end up paying quite a bit for a well fitted, good quality shirt! I've got my eye on this oversized shirt at the mo.

Tartan.
How can you not wear tartan in the colder months? I stay away from big tartan prints but I cherish my scarf I wore in this post from Primark last year. Maybe this year I'll branch out a bit and get some tartan leggings or something!

Oversized Coat.
Not only do I love a winter coat to keep me warm but I think it turns into your signature item of clothing. I always wear my trusty parka jacket which I've had for a couple of years now but there are others who swear by their oversized boyfriend coat or whatever it may be. Just make sure it's the perfect coat for you because it will be staying with you for a while!

Leather.
It goes without saying, I love a bit of leather and I think AW is the perfect time to incorporate it into your outfit. Whether that's a leather jacket, leggings, jeans or just a bag. I still haven't bought myself a leather jacket but I love leather panel leggings and jeans, paired with a thick knitted jumper - brilliant.

Black Boots.
I'm so picky when it comes to buying black boots but this year I've got two pairs. My trust Deena and Ozzy ones and my new, smarter Office heeled ones. Black boots are such a staple it's ridiculous, they can be thrown on with every outfit and can often toughen up a girly outfit.

LBD.
Everyone needs a new LBD for Christmas parties, it goes without saying. I think winter is the perfect time to invest in a new dress and check out the ASOS sale which is wear I always buy my dresses for the best bargains.

Beanies.
Of course I couldn't complete this post without including my favourite things ever... beanies! I can't wear an outfit when it's cold without chucking a beanie on, it's physically impossible for me. Topshop have some adorable bobble hats at the moment and I'm definitely gonna be purchasing this one!

Christmas Jumper.
Last but not definitely not least, we all need a snuggly Christmas jumper. I've already started eyeing up a few this year in the men's section on ASOS but of course the best are yet to come. I'm quite tempted to buy this Halloween jumper as well!

Yes to Carrots Cleansing Wipes

Yes To Carrots Cleansing Wipes The Rawrdrobe

FEATURED: YES TO CARROTS CLEANSING WIPES

After hearing promising things about the Yes To brand I was curious to try out their cleansing wipes. We all know that using makeup wipes is a sin in the beauty blogging world but when browsing on ASOS they caught my eye and no longer than a minute later I found myself with three packs of wipes in my basket. After realizing that three might be a bit overboard I wittled it down to just the carrot wipes as they definitely intrigued me the most. A carrot beauty product.. who knew?

So down to the nitty gritty, what are they like? Unfortunately they're not as 'fragrance free' as they say. The smell is odd and pretty overpowering so I do find myself washing my face after I've used them which is a shame. They stung underneath my eyes the first few times I used them so I wouldn't recommend them for sensitive skin but despite those two points I'm really impressed. Not only are they rich in vitamin A which helps repair your skin and keeps it moist but they also help with the production of collagen (preventing wrinkles). The aloe vera as you all know helps to soothe and moisturise the skin so as you can tell, these wipes are full of goodness! They're not greasy but I don't think I'd repurchase them for the pure fact that they can sometimes irritate my skin.

FEATURED: ZARA BLAZER, RIVER ISLAND JEANS (SIMILAR HERE), FRENCH CONNECTION TOP, OFFICE BOOTS, MICHAEL KORS BAG, MICHAEL KORS WATCH, ASOS NECKLACE

As if it's the end of September already. I can't believe how quickly October's come around this year, it's scary! At least now it's time for me to start wearing my mum's old tweedish blazer! It's such a flattering fit and is perfect for my internships I have coming up. I need to get into the swing a bit more of wearing blazers but I'm just so picky when it comes to them. I heavily rely on Zara for a classic blazer but they're just so expensive now so drop a comment if you know anywhere for reasonable priced, well fitting blazers!

Beauty Bargain: Tweezers

FEATURED: EBAY TWEEZERS

For under £3 these have probably been my beauty bargain of the year so far. I've had them for a good few months and they're still as sharp as they were when I first used them. I've got a couple of pairs of more expensive tweezers but I endlessly find myself choosing these over the rest. So there you have it. Short and super sweet review.

FEATURED: PRIMARK DRESS, DEENA AND OZZY BOOTS, PRIMARK SCARF (SIMILAR HERE), MULBERRY BACKPACK

I am so happy to finally be able to whack on the old tartan scarf! And soon enough I'll be able to throw on my big parka with it which I've missed so much over the warmer months. This dress is an old piece as well which was pretty much all I wore last year so I'm happy to have dug it out again! Also please tell me that I'm not the only one who can't wait for proper autumn (I think September is an inbetweeny month), the thought of lighting the fire and snuggling down to a film is getting me all excited! And then there's Halloween and bonfire night and Toby's birthday and everything! Maybe I'm getting too into the swing of the colder months?
