As if it's the end of September already. I can't believe how quickly October's come around this year, it's scary! At least now it's time for me to start wearing my mum's old tweedish blazer! It's such a flattering fit and is perfect for my internships I have coming up. I need to get into the swing a bit more of wearing blazers but I'm just so picky when it comes to them. I heavily rely on Zara for a classic blazer but they're just so expensive now so drop a comment if you know anywhere for reasonable priced, well fitting blazers!

Beauty Bargain: Tweezers

For under £3 these have probably been my beauty bargain of the year so far. I've had them for a good few months and they're still as sharp as they were when I first used them. I've got a couple of pairs of more expensive tweezers but I endlessly find myself choosing these over the rest. So there you have it. Short and super sweet review.

Tartan Weather

I am so happy to finally be able to whack on the old tartan scarf! And soon enough I'll be able to throw on my big parka with it which I've missed so much over the warmer months. This dress is an old piece as well which was pretty much all I wore last year so I'm happy to have dug it out again! Also please tell me that I'm not the only one who can't wait for proper autumn (I think September is an inbetweeny month), the thought of lighting the fire and snuggling down to a film is getting me all excited! And then there's Halloween and bonfire night and Toby's birthday and everything! Maybe I'm getting too into the swing of the colder months?

Primark Felt Eyeliner Pen

For £1.50 I couldn't say no to picking this up when I saw it at the checkout the other week. I was so impressed at first and thought there would be absolutely nothing bad about it but I was sadly wrong. It's so easy to apply and can create both thin and thick lines which is great for switching up your eyeliner look. It's not watery at all and produces a jet black line which is surprising for such a cheap product yet it doesn't dry up quickly either. My only issue with this (which is a pretty big issue to be fair) is that it constantly prints on my lid. I wore it to a party the other day and found myself sneaking off to the bathroom every ten minutes to clear up my eyes. As well as this it runs really easily, if your eyes start to water the tiniest bit then you'll look in a mirror to find eyeliner dripping down your face. Laaavely. It's a shame about the staying power but for £1.50 I don't mind. It's hardly broken the bank!

Breaking Ties

I am loving Mango at the minute. Not only are their shirts and blazers perfect for dressing for interviews but their jumpers are top notch. I still love my Christmas jumper from last year (here) and their thinner jumpers have lasted me the whole of this chilly summer so it's definitely worth investing! I wore this outfit to Toby's sister's 21st the other week, a great night full of catching up with old friends, drinking bud and surprisingly Irish dancing but let's not go into that!

Turkey Photo Diary Part 2

A few more snaps from Turkey including a couple of gems from a boat trip we took around the coast of Belek. Although we were promised to see loads and loads of turtles we ended up seeing about two or three which kept reappearing but that was good enough for us uncultured Brits! Unfortunately I was preoccupied with jumping off the top of the boat so there's no snaps of the turtles! There is however a picture of me driving the boat which was sweet, even got to wear the captains hat!

'Turquoise Gloss' by Models Own

This post is a tad overdue as this was supposed to go up a while back but oh well. This hyper gel nail polish by Models Own was one of my go to colours for summer along with the Neon Ice Collection and I can't recommend it enough. All the hyper gel polishes are long lasting, glossy and come in the most perfect shades. Although I wouldn't really opt for this colour for AW, I've got my eye on 'Naked Glow' as we roll into the new season.

Last of the Season

Here we have it. Another crappy quality outfit from Turkey, sorrryyyyy! I'll make up for it though over the next few weeks with (fingers crossed) loads of outfit posts! I'm gonna be so sad when we hit autumn, purely because these shorts are gonna be folded up, chucked in a bin bag and left in the attic until the sun starts shining again. Waaaah. Saying that, I cannot wait for autumn. I need to get back into my fluffy jumpers, black boots and of course beanies!

Turkey Photo Diary Part 1

Well this post was a long time coming, sorry for the delay! These are just a few snaps from my recent holiday to Turkey with the fam. Ten days filled with sunbathing, eating kebabs and roasting in forty degree heat. We stayed at a five star golf resort near Antalya which really didn't seem five star at all. Turns out that half eaten pizza which has been left in the back of your minibar by the previous guests isn't the most pleasant sight when you rock up.. Who knew? Despite the not-so-delightful surprise we still had an amazing time and my tan was pretty spectacular for a pale person who never sees the sun - thank you internet.

I'm sure I'll chuck up a few more holiday snaps soon, it's just I'm rather busy at the mo (hence the lack of posts!) but bear with me.

What is Salycylic Acid?

When I first started reading blogs there was always one question on my mind. What is salicylic acid? So I'm here to inform you what this little gem does to our skin.

Salicylic acid works by slowly softening keratin which helps loosen dry skin, therefore making it easier to remove as the acid also provides gentle exfoliation. By unclogging pores and blackheads as well as minimizing the appearance of acne scars, this little beauty should be a key part of your skincare routine. It's safe to use salicylic acid during a breakout as well, as it contains anti-inflammatory properties which sooth the skin and make it the perfect product for combating acne.

Plastic vs Bristle Mascara Wands

There's two types of makeup lovers in the world: the ones who prefer plastic mascara wands and the ones who prefer bristly wands. Personally I really like plastic wands, they've always been the applicators of my favourite mascaras and I like being able to feel the wand combing through my lashes if that makes sense?

If you're after long, defined and separated lashes then a plastic wand is the one to go for. Depending on the size of the actual wand, it can make your lashes look dramatic and perfect for a night out or you can opt for a more natural look by using wands with smaller spikes.

Although bristles can help produce thick, voluminous lashes, they can also make your eyelashes get a tad clumpy and stick together. The knack is to apply slowly and give it a little wiggle as you brush through your lashes. One thing I do really like about bristle applicators is that they make your eyelashes look so naturally amazing even if you've got layers of your favourite mascara on!

I will start by apologising for the bad photo quality, apparently it takes longer than a couple of minutes for your camera to de-steam in forty-something degree heat! This was one of my more casual outfits on holiday comprising of a breezy top and the shortest shorts which was still too hot for the Turkish heat. I'm wearing my new HUF 5 panel cap which I bought a few weeks ago and I'm just loving it, perfect addition to every outfit.

Please can you help me?

As you may know, I have finally left education forever and am on a gap year or as I like to call it, gap life. I'm hoping to spend the next year interning and completing work experience with some fashion/beauty/marketing/PR companies no matter how small they are! I really believe invaluable experience and knowledge can be gained from even the smallest of companies.

So what am I asking?

If you know of any fashion or beauty or PR companies who'd like to recruit an eager intern for a few weeks then please let me know. Or it would also be really helpful if you've interned with a company before then letting me know who it was and what it was like.

For anyone wishing to contact me about this then feel free to email me ( and I'll happily send you my CV!

Thanks again if you can help me out! It would really mean the world and knowing how hard it is to break into the industry, it's always good to know the blogging community will help you out!

Back to School Beauty

Hello hello hello. I'm finally back from Turkey after what feels like ages so it's time to kick start the blogging again. Here's just a few ideas if you're stuck on what bits and bobs to use when you're heading back to school or college. Draw from this post what you like and I hope it helps!

Obviously we all have very different skin types but the best all round advice I can give is to keep it simple. Don't overload your face with too many products. All you need is a makeup remover, toner and moisturiser! I recommend the L'Oreal Gentle Makeup Remover, Simple Toner and Garnier Moisture Match Moisturizers.
I always tried to keep my face makeup simple and not too cakey. I only started wearing foundation to school in year 10 when my skin wasn't clear enough to just wear concealer and powder. I'd recommend the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer but be careful to use a light hand otherwise it might look quite thick on the skin. I'd encourage you to use more of a tinted moisturiser like the Aveda Mineral Tinted Moisturiser rather than a foundation as it's quite light but also buildable. Rimmel Stay Matte Powder is the business for setting your skin and with a dusting of this and some blusher you're done. Natural Collection's blusher in 'Peach Melba' saw me through my school days and I still love it now!

Don't make the same mistake I did when I started school by going all out goth with my eye makeup. It's best to keep it simple with some black or dark brown pencil eyeliner over your lash line and a bit of mascara. I always loved the Maybelline mascaras! And if you're a bit older then obviously go for a flick of Collection's Fast Stroke Eyeliner!

You know what I'm about to say.. Avoid plucking your eyebrows down to nothing - you will regret it! If you're really stuck then just ask your mum or sister or even go to a salon and get them threaded! As for makeup, I'd suggest lightly filling them in with an eyebrow pencil. I've always used the Rimmel one but there's plenty cheap ones out there!

I personally don't think lipstick is really appropriate for school especially before sixth form or college. Instead, I'd recommend just a natural looking lipgloss or even just a lip balm which is what I always did. The most affordable ones which I'd go for include the little pots of Vaseline, lip glosses from Collection or Miss Sporty, and of course my favourite, Superdry LipFix (review here).

I think at most schools you're not allowed to wear coloured nail varnish so if this is the case then try out some nude shades. My favourite is 'Utopia' by Models Own (review here) and 'Lychee' by Barry M.

Also thank you everyone who entered my giveaway, the winner will be announced soon on Twitter and by email if you left one!
