New Found Love: Esprit

Source: Journelles

Myself and Toby have recently made the decision to start saving for a flat. Scary I know! This won't be happening for a few months yet but it's got me already thinking about homeware, one of the blogosphere's favourite subjects to talk about. I'm building up my Pinterest boards, bookmarking products and creating an endless folder on my laptop of inspiration. You could say I'm wallowing in a sea of Ideal Home magazines right now (and you would be correct).

Among the many homeware shops I've found, I keep clicking back to Esprit which is a shop I never thought I'd be so addicted to. The reasonable prices and vibrant designs sucked me in straight away, and it was actually through this rug that I discovered my love for this website. At the time, I also had no idea about the range of their products, from table runners to bathrobes and wallpaper to tea light holders, they've got so much to offer.

Despite all the products being right up my street, I've also been looking at their photos for inspiration. They've got loads of different collections from bright colours and patterns (as you can see in the pictures, my personal favourite) to more minimalistic designs. The one which I draw most of my inspiration from is their Urban Spring collection which is exactly how I would picture our flat: leafy prints, different textures and accents of colour. Like seriously, don't you love the leafy print wallpaper and the stripey blanket in the pictures? Drool.

So there you have it. My new found love, Esprit. If you're in the market to update your home a little then I'd definitely recommend checking out their homeware. They've also got some really lovely spring/summer pieces in the womenswear section as well which I've got my eye on!

Farfetch Assouline Book Collection

I don't know why I have such an addiction to buying coffee table books, it's a bit weird. I don't even live in my own flat yet and already I've accumulated a hefty number of fashion, beauty, lifestyle and graphic design books. Why you ask? I just don't know. There's something about the concept of someone popping over for a cuppa and just having a flick through the latest addition to your coffee-table-book-collection which I like. Especially as I stand there with open arms, 'welcome to my personal library'.

This Farfetch collection* is the latest addition to my personal library as I am now going to call it. Comprising of three books based on food, art and design, it's definitely going to take some time to read but being the page flicker that I am, I've already spotted the most eye-catching pages I want to read first.

The pictures are amazing and put my blog photos to shame but I'm cool with that for the sake of not being a professional photographer. The quality of the pages is beautiful as well, it feels so luxurious and I can't even begin to tell you how scared I am of creasing a page, heaven forbid!

So if you're a self-proclaimed bookworm or even just like having a flick through beautifully bound books then you should definitely check out this collection!

The Tool to Boost Your Eyebrow Game

Maybelline Brow Satin Eyebrow Pencil Review

I've never had a very strong eyebrow game until recently and that's all down to this beauty. A fine, retractable pencil on one end and a powdered sponge on the other makes the best combination for my somewhat shapeless eyebrows.

I love to use the pencil to draw the outline and then lightly shade in the middle section, then I'll move onto the sponge which applies a lightweight matte powder for the inside parts. The result, eyebrows on fleek (god I hate that saying) that don't slide down your face throughout the day! That's my favourite thing about this, the colour doesn't fade and my brows look the same at the end of the day just as they did when I put makeup on.

The only downside for me as that the pencil is so precise that it takes a while for me to apply it and I ain't got time for that! Not unless I'm going out that is and that's hardly ever! But despite my impatience getting in the way, I do really love this product and it's the only product I need to up my brow game!

7 things to do when you've got no wifi!

This is something we all dread, that fatal moment when the little dinosaur makes an appearance on your chrome page. It’s gut-wrenching really isn’t it? The thought that you can’t catch up with the latest episode of Made in Chelsea or even buy that jumper you were checking out on ASOS earlier. It really does bring a tear to my eye. But here I am, sat here typing this post on Word because unfortunately my wifi’s had a meltdown, and I’m going to introduce you to a few things you can do when you’ve got no wifi.

Write a to-do list
Having time away from a computer can really clear your head and can make you realise what shit you gotta do! This is the best time for me to write my lists whether that's work I've got to do or food I need to buy on my next trip to Co-Op!

Read a bookI've really been getting into reading recently, not anything that requires too much attention but just the odd flick through here and there. Having time away from my laptop means I can focus my attention on something else without being distracted by LLYMLRS' latest Instagram or Victoria's LFW video. It's quite refreshing and so nice to avert my eyes from a screen.

Spring clean
This is literally my favourite thing to do when the wifi's down. I'm talking hoovering, dusting, emptying the dishwasher, cleaning the windows, washing.. all of it! And then that's all done and dusted! Cracking pun there may I add.

Go for a walkI've never ever been one to enjoy walking and ever since I was young my Mum's always told me that I can never expect to own a dog if I don't walk it. But Mother my dear times have changed! Going on a walk and exploring can be the most calming thing, unless you get attacked by a swan or something but besides that it just gives you a chance to get a breath of fresh air and either think about everything or just not think of anything at all.

Spend time with family
I'm surprised that Mum and Dad haven't purposely cut the internet off before just so we would neglect our laptops and phones for a few moments to spend time with them. It sounds awful but I've only recently discovered how much I appreciate time with my family since being away from them. So next time you lose wifi, don't start panicking and trying to recover it, just spend some time with the family or friends and have a good old laugh!

Clear out your wardrobe
I know this is fairly similar to spring cleaning but I mean properly clear out your wardrobe, not just rearranging it! Fill up bin bags with clothes, bags and shoes which you want to give away and you'll feel much better. It also gives you an excuse to write a list of what you need in your wardrobe and hit the shops!

Get creative
With no videos of cats playing the piano to distract you, now's the time to get creative with your blog photos and experiment a little. I've used the last couple of hours to play around with my set up and background as well as trying out new writing styles.

Maybelline Push Up Drama Mascara

Maybelline Push Up Drama Mascara Review
Maybelline Push Up Drama Mascara Review

There is a plethora of mascaras in my makeup collection but Maybelline's new Push Up Drama Mascara has made it to my current number one spot. I really really don't need any more mascaras ever but I picked this up on a whim in Boots expecting great things and I haven't been disappointed.

I have to admit I wasn't too keen on this at first, the wet formula just didn't sit well with me and I couldn't help getting in a massive mess and getting mascara prints over my eyelids. It applied a lot of formula which left me with horrible clumpy lashes so it looked like I had about 4 eyelashes and that's just not a great look for me. However after drying out for a few days it's like a completely different product.

It still applies quite a bit of formula so you have to be careful to stroke the wand straight through your lashes and not wiggle it to ensure you don't end up with really overdone eyelashes. Apart from that little issue I love it. It gives me really full thick lashes and amazing separation and the best thing is that my lashes hold their shape all day! With an easy to remove formula and big plastic applicator, this really ticks all the boxes!

Current Favourite: Super Facialist by Una Brennan Skin Recovery Day Cream

Superfacialist by Una Brennan Skin Recovery Day Cream Moisturiser Review

My skin is facing a severe meltdown at the moment. I'm talking dry skin, blemishes, oily patches, the works. I think it's down to a mixture of a bad skincare routine so I deserve a slap on the wrist for that, the harsh weather and the air con at college. So to defeat the dry skin, I popped into Boots to pick up the Liz Earle Skin Repair Moisturiser but being a student means I can't afford that kind of luxury so off I went in search of a budget friendly moisturiser. I've heard of Una Brennan before, mainly through Caroline Hirons, so I picked it up for a reasonable £14.99 and thought it would do the job.

It looks very humble in it's tube but this is definitely a go to product in my life from now on. It claims to help balance, hydrate and soothe for healthier looking skin and I'd say it definitely does the job! After just one use I could already see and feel the difference in my once moisture-less skin, and after a couple of weeks of using this my skin felt so much more hydrated and softer. I guess this is down to the ingredients: shea butter, arnica, aloe vera and milk, all of which are renowned for saving dry skin and promoting cell renewal.

I generally use about one to two pea sized blobs which is a good amount for my face and neck and it sinks in like a dream. It's suitable for sensitive skin and in my experience, hasn't broken me out which I was delighted to see and it's also fragrance free which is something I look for in a moisturiser. So it has the thumbs up for all you dry skin ladies and gents!

I can't sing it's praises enough so if you're on a mid-range budget and looking for a new soothing moisturiser then definitely check this out in Boots!
