If you don’t know what Pokemon GO is then I assume you’ve been living under a rock for the past week. With augmented reality taking over the world, if you haven’t downloaded this new phenomenon then you’re missing out. What’s not to love about running round in an attempt to catch a little animated character whose name you’ve never heard of before? I will admit though, I clearly lived a deprived childhood growing up without Pokemon so I really have no idea which Pokemon is which. I do know Pikachu though and Charizard and that cute little blue turtle.
So what’s the point of this post? I thought I would introduce you to a few things that you can actually learn from this new experience.
New technology is always around the corner.
I know that not everyone will be as interested in this as I am, but the thought of augmented reality finally hitting our screens is somewhat of a revelation for anyone interested in social media marketing. Pokemon GO is a reminder that there’s always something new around the corner, soon enough this won’t be the only gaming experience of it’s kind.
There is a life outside of your iPhone screen.
I know that Pokemon GO involves your phone but for once, it allows you to step foot outside your house and experience the world as it is.
No matter how old you are, there’s still a child inside of you.
I’m 20 years old and absolutely thrilled to pieces at the thought of running around the garden finding little Pokemon (despite never playing it before) which just proves that it can bring the inner child out of you.
The feeling of nostalgia is amazing.
Everyone loves to relive something from their childhood. Be that eating chicken dippers and smiley faces (and pretending the ketchup was blood – not just me who did that is it?), or watching an old Disney film. Pokemon GO will bring that feeling back to millions across the world and that’s pretty incredible.
I’m sure there will be more and more that we can learn from Pokemon GO as it develops over the next few weeks/months but for now these were just a few that sprang to mind.
Have you downloaded Pokemon GO? Does it feel nostalgic for you?
