And like that *clicks fingers*, it’s December. I’m not sure how it happened but I swear last time I checked the date it was August? Now it’s officially the festive month and NO ONE can tell me off for playing Shakin’ Stevens, watching Elf or wearing my Christmas jumper!
I’ll be totally honest, normally I’m a lot more excited and organised for the 25th than I am this year. I think it’s a combination of having a lot on, trying to save my pennies and the fact that Toby and I aren’t doing stockings or huge presents this year which normally spurs me on to go crazy with Christmas shopping and wrapping! Nevertheless, it’s December and I’m still buzzing for my favourite month of the year!
I thought I’d put together a bit of a to do list/goals for this month as I could do with a little kick up the arse and some motivation. And if you’re in the mood for another one of my festive posts then check out last year’s post on reasons to get excited for Christmas!
December just isn’t December if you don’t go ice skating! I’m hardly Dancing on Ice material but I love getting all wrapped up and hitting the ice (not literally). I’m going to attempt to go in the week this year as it gets so busy on the weekend and hopefully I’ll be able to make an evening out of it with a Yorkshire pudding wrap and hot chocolate!
Visit the Christmas markets
Mooching around the little wooden huts decorated with fairy lights and foliage is one of my favourite things about Christmas. You just can’t beat the markets! Last year, Toby and I paid a trip to Bath purely because I wanted to stroll around the market there and it was so festive! Unfortunately, we’re not road-tripping anywhere anytime soon so we’ll have to make do with the local markets but I’m still excited!
Keep on top of my fitness
It’s hard enough as it is to stay on top of a diet and fitness routine during the colder months so when you throw Christmas into the mix, it becomes even more difficult! I’m obviously going to enjoy myself and eat my body weight in sprouts, pigs in blankets and festive treats buuuuuut I’m just going to be more mindful about it. I’ll be making a conscious effort to get my arse to the gym at least three times a week (who am I kidding, more likely twice a week!) so I can be a bit more lenient with my diet! You might think ‘corh get a life Katy, it’s Christmas’ but I haven’t worked my arse off all year just for me to put all the weight back on!
Make time for my friends
I’m not gonna lie, I’ve been a bit of a hermit recently. I haven’t really wanted to socialise and I’ve been quite happy with my own company and just to spend my evenings watching TV with mine or Toby’s family. Naturally, my friends will be retreating home for Christmas from all over the country and I’m determined to make the most of it this year. Even if that means staying up past 10 o’clock on a school night!
Post some Christmassy content
I’ve really been slacking with my blog recently and I have no excuse. I think I’ve just been having a rough couple of months when it comes to producing ideas and content. However, I’m jumping back on the horse again this month and my goal is to starting writing two blog posts a week like I used to. I’d also really love to push the boat out a bit more with my photography and get some cute and cosy snaps around the Christmas markets and other festivities going on.
Watch all the festive films I haven’t already
This might seem somewhat contradictory to everything I’ve previously said about going out and making the most of December but c’mon, we all need chill time too! This year, instead of watching Elf and Love Actually on repeat for the entirety of the lead up to Christmas, I’m going to venture out. I mean, I’ve never even finished Home Alone for God’s sake! So if you’re interested, here’s what’s on my list to watch which I’ve never seen before:
- The Muppet’s Christmas Carol
- Four Christmases
- Home Alone 2
- The Nightmare Before Christmas
- Deck the Halls
I’m fully prepared to inject everything I can into making December my best month of 2018 and I hope you do the same!
What’s on your December to do list?
